What did you… (Week 9) [Updated]

Wow, what a crazy busy week! I still managed to do a few things so here’s my weekly look at “what did you enjoy” during this specific week of the year.

What did you listen to this week?

  • Bob & Sheri (Radio)
  • Bob & Tom (Radio)
  • Interpol – Our Love To Admire
  • Beck – The Information
  • A Perfect Circle – The Thirteenth Step
  • Stabbing Westward – Darkest Days

I used to listen to Bob & Sheri a lot last year on the radio on my way to work. People call in, and they’re pretty good hosts. I started listening again this week. It’s been pretty enjoyable, but I don’t enjoy commercials so I switch to Bob & Tom. They’re more comedy based, and this week they had a few great comedians. Good times. Yesterday/Today I listened to Interpol’s latest album. I personally think it’s their best, but I’m sure someone will say I’m wrong. How can you go wrong w/ the line “There is no I in threesome”? Beck rocked out in the office today. I need to give The Information a bit more spins. It is on the same level as Guero in my mind. A Perfect Circle rounded out the afternoon. I made it entirely through Thirteenth Step and halfway through A Mer De Noms. I wasn’t so happy with eMOTIVe… I consider it a waste of money actually. The other albums they did (not war related) were amazing though and are big favorites. Stabbing Westward finished up the day (still playing them as I type). Darkest Days is an amazing follow up to Wither, Blister, Burn & Peel. If you haven’t already heard of them and you like industrial/hard rock definitely check them out. They’re no longer together, but the lead singer apparently just released a new album with his new band The Dreaming.

What did you play this week?

  • Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (Gamecube)
  • Burnout Paradice (XBOX 360)
  • Zack & Wiki: The Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure (Wii)
  • Alien Hominid (Xbox Live Arcade)

We’re plowing through Crystal Chronicles. Having mjblink run some of the boards without us was a great idea since we only have a limited amount of time to play together. I played some more Burnout last night, and the wife helped me with a few boards of Zack & Wiki. I started playing Alien Hominid again last night. The Behemoth made a wonderful game, and I really can’t wait for Castle Crashers (their new 4 player co-op adventure). Alien Hominid is wicked hard though, and I swear something went buggy and this sand explosion from the miniboss kept happening and killed me probably 15 times when I was fighting the real boss. It was insane. Anyways… moving on.

What did you watch this week?

  • The Brave One (DVD)
  • King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (DVD)
  • My Dad is better than Your Dad (TV)
  • LA Ink (TV)
  • Jumper (Theater)
  • LOST (TV)

Last week, I left you in suspense of which “vigilante” movie was better. I’m sure you weren’t in that much suspense, but hey give me a break. For me, the better film was *drum roll* Death Sentence. But perhaps, you might disagree with me (especially if you want to see Sayid licking Ms. Fosters nipples). Not me. No siree. But if you want to watch the best documentary of all time, let me suggest King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. I won’t ruin anything here, but it was freaking awesome. Donkey Kong rules! My Dad is still better than Your Dad, and LA Ink was quite enjoyable this week. Thanks to mjblink we had front row seats to Jumper. If you were the type of person who said, “Nightcrawler rules! There should be an entire movie about a non-blue person that teleports all around the world and has this battle royale with Samuel L. Jackson” this movie will probably still disappoint you. The teleportation was cool, but it seemed like they had a great idea and a producer was like “let’s stick a love story in it and take out most of the story.” Wait for DVD on this one. I loved that “The Plague” was in this episode of LOST (probably one person got that reference) you might know him from Short Circuit though (Fisher Stevens). I can’t wait for it to be over, but it was a pretty interesting episode.

Well, it’s finally the weekend, relax and comment a bit.

[Update] What did you forget this week?

  • Chelsea Lately (TV)
  • Amnesia (TV)
  • Carnet de Voyage (Book)

I suck at remembering… Chelsea Handler is hilarious. I love her show on E!. It’s one of the shows I try to tune into weekly. The roundtable is my favorite. Last week, we all sat down on Friday Fun Day (moved again haha) and watched the premiere of Amnesia?. We all liked that Dennis Miller is the host, and the idea of remembering yourself is funny… but an hour show for one person? Really??? You could tell they were stretching it out since right before a commercial they would show a “coming up” segment. Do I need to see what coming up after the commercial? No, I’ll see it in a second… We couldn’t figure out why they did that. Lame. Speaking of things that are not lame… My new book I’m reading “Carnet de Voyage” by Craig Thompson. It’s not so much a “book” as it is a travelogue of his experience in March – May 2004 in other countries. The artwork is amazing, and I find myself staring at each picture for a long time. Quite relaxing. Alright… I’ll try not to forget as much next week.
