by ZNB What did you… (Week 17)

This week I tried to relax as much as possible. I don’t think it really worked but here’s a recap of a “what did you enjoy” during this specific week of the year.

What did you listen to this week?

  • The Darkness - Permission to Land
  • Does It Offend You, Yeah? - “You have no idea what you’re getting yourself into”
  • Selva de Mar - Olas Invisibles

The Darnkess’ Permission to Land is one of my favorite albums of all time. If I did that whole “you can only have so many albums on a desert island that just so happened to have electricity and a cd player what would you bring?” this album would be there. High pitched vocals and pure rock n’ roll all the way. I ended up buying Does It Offend You, Yeah?’s album and I still love it. I wish it had more than 10 tracks though, because it goes too fast. Also, I’ve been listening to a lot of classical radio, which is really relaxing and I love it. I saw Selva de Mar’s Olas Invisibles on free.napster.com and liked the cover, crossed my fingers and hit play album. LOVE IT. “The second album from popular Barcelona street musicians Selva de Mar. Featuring cello, hang, trumpet, vibraphone and voice.” Check it out.

What did you play this week?

  • River City Ransom (Wii VC)

I picked up River City Ransom this week on the Virtual Console for Wii. I had the GBA remake of it and really enjoyed it. For some reason, I totally missed out on this game as a kid, but I’m enjoying it now. The graphics totally remind me of “Dodgeball” for the NES and I love beat-em-ups. So yeah… I needed something to tide me over until Mario Kart Wii comes out and I’m debating on getting Okami for the Wii sometime.

What did you forget to mention that watched last week?

  • There Will Be Blood (DVD)
  • Becoming Jane (DVD)

There Will Be Blood was nominated for an academy award, which normally I steer clear of, but it was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson so I had to rent it. Visually it was awesome, story-wise it was interesting, length-wise it was long. I think 2hrs 45mins long. Was it worth it? Kind of. I’ll probably never watch it again, but it’s worth a rental. Also, we rented Becoming Jane. I did this because I’m a nice husband and my wife LOVES Jane Austin’s books. I just so happen to LOVE Anne Hathaway. I guess it worked out okay in the end. (It was better than I expected)

What did you watch this week?

  • Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Theatre)
  • Hitman (DVD)
  • King of Queens (TV/DVD)
  • Dragonball Z - Season 2 (TV/DVD)
  • South Park (TV)
  • The Office (TV)
  • 30 Rock (TV)

South Park, The Office, & 30 Rock were all new and quite enjoyable. We’ve been having fun going through TV on DVD sets this week. We started back up w/ King of Queens and Dragonball Z. I wonder if you can guess which one I chose and which one my wife picked. We rented Hitman for a $1 and took it to my parents. It’s not the best, but it’s a guilty action movie pleasure. We ended up going to the theatre which is something we haven’t done since Vantage Point (blah). Forgetting Sarah Marshall was hilarious and a definite recommend from me. If you liked Freaks & Geeks or anything Judd Apatow was produced/directed go see it. These idiots almost ruined it because they wouldn’t such their fat faces, but they eventually got quiet. This is why my blood pressure is high.

How much was a gallon of gas this week?

  • $3.59 (Speedway)

*Moan*

Thanks for all the positive feedback I’m getting about GIW, glad you’re enjoying them. Also, this marks our 1,150th post! Hurray for us!

What I read: Persuasion (Jane Austen), and started Bullyville (Francine Prose). I’m trying to make it through some of these young adult books before I catalog them at the school library. Hurray for me. (P.S. - They suck.)
